The Rock Tavern. 1991.
The Rock Tavern is now demolished to make way for a new house estate. When I passed the other day July 2005 the pub was flattened with the Possil Bar and the Criaghall Tavern.
This old tavern was established in 1881, landlord Daniel MacLachlan also ran a pub at 70 Maitland Street. Mr MacLachlan was born in West Calder, Edinburgh in 1830. In the 1881 census Daniel was living with his wife Margaret at 383 St. George's Road, Glasgow with their seven children.When Daniel died in 1888 his wife Margaret took over the running of the pub which then consisted of Possil Road, Maitland Street and Rodney Street.
In 1899 Margaret paid and annul rent of £60 for the pub in Possil Road, £70 for Maitland Street and £40 for the Rodney Street premises. The pub stayed in the family circle for a hundred years.

About to come under the hammer held by pretty "Miss Evening Times" Helen O'Brien, from Maryhill, is a bottle full of cash held by Mr John Forbes at the Rock Tavern, Possilpark, Glasgow. Mr Forbes is an official voluntary worker with the Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation Fund, which benifited from the bottle proceeds.
