The Value of a Public House in Cambuslang.

In 1898 the average rent for a public house in Cambuslang was £39 per annum, the publican would expect to take £30 a week drawings and the average price of the property was £2775.

In 1929 The Auld Hoose Inn, is to be demolished to make way for a new cinema at the cost of £22,000. This cinema was probably the Savoy in Main Street.

Jimmy McMenemy played for Celtic Football Club. He owned a pub on Great Eastern Road now the Gallowgate and became a Director of the Cambuslang Picture House.

Cambuslang went DRY.

Mr Hugh Chapman became heavily involved in trade affairs and was president of the Cambuslang Defence Association. Cambuslang went dry in 1920 and with the help of William Eadie a local publican and Hugh Chapman the pubs opened again in 1925.

Cadoc Street, Kirkhill is named after the Patron Saint of Cambuslang.

John M Goudie licensee of 29 Hope Street, Glasgow and Roslinea, Cambuslang died in 1913 he was 76 years of age.

Giacinto Minato died in 1912 he was the landlord of the Auld Hoose, Cambuslang. He was a well-known figure in town and a popular man. He spoke several languages including, German, French, Italian and of course English, he was only 63 years of age when he died.
